Layering: Propagating Plants with Low Effort and High Success

Layering is a simple and effective method of propagating plants that produces reliable results. Choose a long and flexible stem from the parent plant, and make a small incision in it near a node. Bury the incision in moist soil, leaving the tip exposed. Secure the buried section with a small stake or pin. Keep the soil consistently moist to promote root development. After a few weeks, new shoots should emerge from the buried section, indicating successful layering. At this point, sever the new plant from the parent and pot it separately, ensuring it receives proper care. With layering, you can effortlessly multiply your favorite plants and expand your garden.
